Associate

We are looking for a talented Associate to join our Investment Team. The successful candidate will be tasked with portfolio management as well as transaction support for the Investment team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate management information is available to key decision-makers at all times and also be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of portfolio investments.  Candidates will have a demonstrated interest in international development and impact investing. The position is based in Barcelona with regular travel to our office in Amsterdam.

Main responsibilities
1) Data Collection:
  • – Support day to day relationship with all counterparties (for both fund and direct investments) developing a detailed understanding of current financial and operational performance in addition to collecting social/environmental impact KPIs.
  • – Liaise with all investees to obtain monthly/quarterly reports.
  • – Review financial data to ensure accuracy and update financial summary for internal reports.

 

2) Internal Financial/Impact Reporting:
  • – Manage preparation of quarterly portfolio reports, which will require liaising with all relevant Investment team members to add context to key portfolio events and depth to impact reporting.
  • – Provide insightful analysis of financial performance and track record of portfolio for inclusion in quarterly portfolio reports.
  • – Design, prepare and update KPI schedule regularly to assist Investment team decision-making and strategy formation.

 

3) Project/Investment Appraisals:
  • – Support the Investment team in assessing financial/portfolio impact potential of new and follow-on investment opportunities, supporting the transaction leaders in the due diligence process and financial analysis of the opportunities.
Requirements
Experience
  • – Minimum 2 years of professional experience in finance or consulting
  • – Undergraduate and/or Master’s degree from top-tier university
  • – Strong Interest in the Impact Investing sector and/or Private Equity and/or Venture Capital fund structures
  • – Living in and/or working on themes relating to development in emerging markets, preferably in sub-Saharan Africa or Latin America is a plus
  • – Excellent financial, company valuation and analytical skills
  • – Experience processing data from investment funds and reporting on financial performance

  • – Fluent in Spanish and English
  • – Ability to work independently, self-starter and highly motivated

Assistant Controller

Blink is a single family office focused on promoting market-based solutions to poverty, social and economic inequality, and environmental degradation. Blink invests in highly impactful investment funds while at the same time developing new foundations and initiatives to support the founding family’s impact ambition.

We are looking for an all-round, hands-on Assistant Controller to join and support the Family Office finance team. In this newly created position, the Assistant Controller will work closely with the Financial Controller (and on occasion the CEO).

The successful candidate will be a team player and be able to work independently. Accounting administrative experience is a prerequisite and familiarity with accounting software extremely useful.

Responsibilities to include:

  • – Execution and maintaining of the accounting administration tasks of various entities
  • – Bookkeeping activities  
  • – Processing of invoices and execution of payments
  • – Preparation of VAT returns
  • – Producing and presenting (periodic) management accounts
  • – Assistance with the preparation and compilation of the annual accounts
  • – Ad hoc assistance to the financial controller and CEO
  • – Ambition to work closely with the Financial controller in optimizing the financial processes

 

The successful candidate will be part of a small and focused team working across a number of businesses and projects and with room to grow due to the expansion of the responsibilities within the Family Office. The following requirements are considered to be essential:

  • – A relevant education (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) on HBO level
  • – Minimum of 2 to 4 years work accounting experience (including relevant internships)
  • – Knowledge of (Dutch) VAT
  • – Interested in financial processes and bookkeeping
  • – Comfortable with a variety of finance related responsibilities
  • – Fast learner with regards to accounting software
  • – Hands-on mentality, result and service orientated
  • – Flexible, professional, versatile and personable
  • – Statutory accounts experience is a plus
  • – High level of personal integrity and discretion
  • – Excellent written and verbal English (Dutch is not essential but a plus)

Interim HR Business Partner

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on interim HR Business Partner to join and support the Family Office in a diverse range of projects. 

 

Our organisation would benefit from a candidate with startup/scale up experience within an international setting. The ideal candidate can advise various stakeholders on multiple levels while improving processes, systems and the overall management of our teams.

 

  • – First point of contact for the international team for all HR related issues.
  • – Take the lead in designing an HR framework with processes on People Development, Compensation, Benefits and Performance.- 
  • – Work together with our tech team to research which tools will benefit the employee journey.
  • – Advisor to the CEO on all HR related matters, while professionalising the organisation. 
  • – Recruitment and onboarding of our new team members.

 

You will be part of a family office with colleagues working across a number of countries. The following requirements are considered to be essential:

  • – Bachelor/master degree
  • – 4-8 years of experience as an HR Business partner at startups/scale up or a corporate where you were part of a new projects and businesses.
  • – Extensive knowledge of Dutch labour law regulations
  • – High level of personal integrity and discretion.
  • – Flexible, professional, and personable.
  • – Excellent written and verbal English.
